DETAILS:
3 bedroom / 2 bathroom, central AC on ground floor, and individually controlled AC in upstairs. Bathroom on each floor. Master on bottom floor. Two bedrooms on upper floor with two queens one and two singles in the other. TV is downstairs. Finished basement has extra refrigerator, a deep freezer, and a washer and dryer. Utilities include hot water, water softener, electrical, generator backup, Internet, septic tank.
Entrance: We will provide a code to enter.
Grill: The grill is hooked up to a large propane tank.
Deck: All decks are covered and chairs on each. The round poofs (ottomans) are for use outdoor too. High winds can blow chairs and destroy them, so you may need to secure them.
HVAC: Heating and AC: main floor can be operated from thermostat in hallway by kitchen and bathroom. The upstairs is controlled by remote controls mounted on the walls.
Coffee Machine: Jura we6. Coffee beans put in hopper, makes coffee for different sized (1 oz, 2 oz, 3.5 oz, 6 oz is special coffee). Refill water tank on left side with tap water. When machine says “Empty Grounds”, pull tray directly out and empty grounds into trash receptacle and rinse out. Contact me if anything else comes up.
Water: The tap water is very very good. It feeds the refrigerator which has ice too.
Trash: Each trash receptacle has a replacement liner in the bottom. For the larger ones, be sure to not throw away the plastic rim that keeps the trash liner in. All trash can be hauled to mile marker 7, Pine Valley Trash area. Leaving trash outside can attract unwanted animals.
Roll up Blinds: Each window has roll up blinds for privacy.
Wildlife: If during the right time of year, about June through October, the deer are very active. One main doe is Juniper, and she will come right up to you for food. Healthy food is what they need. They love many fruits: apples, bananas (including peel), grapes, watermelon (even the rind), berries. Vegetables too: lettuce, carrots, snap peas. Keeping leftovers like apple cores etc is often great. Leftovers can be placed in the trough at the end of the driveway in front of the generator area. Golden eagles are seen, wild turkeys, and other animals.
TV: Apple TV is available to watch TV. Also, the speaker system attached to it is Sonos and you can play music over it from your phone.
Cell Signal: There is little or no cell signal typically. Before coming to the cabin, set your cell phone up with the ability to make phone calls over Wi-Fi.
Generator: The generator “exercises” on Friday afternoon, so do not be alarmed. If the power goes out, it will automatically turn on and power HVAC and the refrigerator.
Hummingbird Feeder: 1/4 cup sugar to one cup of water.
Internet: Starlink is the provider, but the network that can be used at this cabin and the neighboring one is TheWhiteCabin and the password is PineValley2019.
Shed: The shed has a trundle bed and AC and heat (remote). It also is a good place to be an office for privacy/meetings. There is a router there so the signal is strong.

SIGHTSEEING

(you can go multiple times to each area!)

Zion National Park

Zion National Park: This is 1 hour and 13 minutes from you. Probably the shuttles will be running for the main canyon of Zion. There may be a lot of people on the shuttles, so be prepared. But, the town Springdale is quaint, and the East side of Zion has no limitations. On the East site, here are some recommended hikes.

East Side Hikes:

  1. The best hike is Canyon Overlook. It is easy to do, and has everything. For best lighting and pictures, I recommend doing it at or before noon.
  2. Drive further on the drive and there is a split rail. Easy hike to see petroglyphs.
  3. Anywhere on the East Side you can actually pull over and walk around. What we will look for are the big-horned sheep that hang out around there. So fun to watch.

Food: On the way out from Pine Valley to Zion, there is a River Rock Roasting Company in LaVerkin, UT, that is great. It has scones that remind me of Cranberry’s scones in Brooklyn. Most people like the coffee (I don’t, but I am super picky). Lots of good options there, like small quiche. For dinner, I recommend Oscar’s. It is a local favorite that has great burgers, sweet potato fries, salads, Mexican food, ribs, and so forth.

Bryce Canyon

2 hours and 39 minutes away, but worth every minute. There are about four areas to pull into and take a small walk to see the sites.

Navajo Loop at Sunset Point: This is about a 2 hour hike, and is a real hike. But it is one of my most favorite hikes every. But it will be hot, even at that high elevation.

Food: Not a lot of eateries around there, so best is to finish up and drive to Cedar City, about an hour away, and eat at Centro’s which is an excellent pizzeria, with wine/beer, excellent salads….just really good. If we time it right, we can book Pizza for after my SCE as I am attending in Cedar City. So I recommend doing Bryce on 4/10 or 4/11 so I can feed you!

Snow Canyon State Park

29 minutes away. I think you pay $10 on a card when you enter, per vehicle. There is lots to see and do here. Some easy hikes, and just getting on some of the petrified dunes is fun.

Red Cliffs Recreational Area

1 hour away. $5 or so per vehicle. Very much like Zion National Park. May be parts to walk through water, or it may be dry by then. Absolutely gorgeous red rock canyon you are walking through.

Pine Valley Recreational Area

3.3 miles away. Easy to bike ride to. Nice walking path through the forest.

Pine Valley Reservoir

In the recreational area. Has paved pathways to walk around the reservoir.

Pioneer Park (Dixie Rock)

Free, 44 minutes away, and has an outdoor desert garden. You can walk wherever you want, and it is like walking on Mars.
